Summer Fellowships

Funded from generous donations by Brandeis alumni, these fellowships provide $5000 in stipend support to allow students to do summer research. Students who will be rising Brandeis sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Summer 2017, and working in a lab in the Division of Science at the time of application, are eligible to apply. A commitment from a Brandeis faculty member to serve as your mentor in Summer 2017 is required. It is a good idea to plan ahead when trying to find a mentor.

The Division of Science Summer Program typically runs from May to August. Recipients are expected to be in residence and to work full-time during that 10-week period, and must commit to presenting a poster at the final poster session that occurs in early August.

The application form is online (Brandeis login required). Questions may be addressed to Steven Karel

FAQ’s about Summer Fellowships

  • Does “in residence” mean I have to live on campus?
No. If you can commute to campus that is fine as well.
  • Can I take a summer course while I am working in the lab?
No, that is not the intent of the program. We are providing funding to allow students to have a fully immersive lab experience. Taking a course would interfere with concentrating on your lab work.
